Budgetmend is a product and service of Kaai Tech LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Kaai Tech LLC", "we", "us", or "our").

Kaai Tech LLC is the data controller for personal information collected through https://www.budgetmend.com and related applications. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and application.

By using Budgetmend, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Account information: Name, email address, password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication), and profile preferences you provide during onboarding.

Financial data you enter: Budget categories, transactions, bills, debt balances, income details, savings goals, and other information you voluntarily add to the app.

Linked bank data (optional): If you choose to connect a bank on Premium, we use Plaid to retrieve account names, masks, balances, and transaction history you authorize. We do not receive or store your bank login credentials. Bank linking requires verified email, two-factor authentication, and explicit in-app consent.

Payment information: On the website, subscription billing is processed by Stripe. We receive subscription status, customer identifiers, and limited billing metadata — not full payment card numbers, which Stripe stores directly. On the iPhone app, Premium subscriptions purchased through the App Store are processed by Apple; we use RevenueCat to validate subscription status and sync Premium access to your account (we do not receive your full payment card number from Apple).

Bill images (optional): If you use bill scan on iPhone, the image you choose is sent securely to our servers to extract vendor, amount, and due date. Images may be processed with automated document-reading technology under our agreements with service providers.

Usage data (website): On budgetmend.com, we may collect pages visited, features used, device type, browser, IP address, and analytics events via PostHog and/or Firebase Analytics to improve the product. The iPhone app does not include those analytics SDKs in v1.

Communications: Messages you send through contact forms or support email.

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Budgetmend service
• Authenticate users and enforce role-based access
• Process subscriptions and manage billing
• Generate budgeting insights and personalized suggestions
• Send service-related emails (account, billing, security, optional weekly review digest)
• Respond to support requests
• Monitor usage, fix bugs, and improve performance
• Comply with legal obligations

Budgetmend may send anonymized or user-provided budget context to third-party large language model (LLM) providers to generate budgeting suggestions, weekly review tips, and rescue-mode guidance. We do not use your data to train public models. This processing occurs only when you use in-app suggestion features, under our agreements with those providers.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers: Trusted subprocessors that help us operate Budgetmend — see Subprocessors below for the current list
• Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
• Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required

We use the following third-party service providers to run Budgetmend. Each processes personal data only as needed to provide their service to us, under contractual obligations consistent with this policy.

We may update this list when we add or replace service providers. Material changes will be reflected on this page.

We may send you service-related emails about your account, billing, security, and product updates. If you opt in to marketing communications, we may also send promotional emails about Budgetmend features, offers, and tips.

How to unsubscribe from marketing emails:

• Click the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any marketing email we send you.
• Email us at support@budgetmend.com with the subject line "Unsubscribe from marketing emails" and the email address associated with your account.
• Sign in to Budgetmend, go to Settings → Notifications, and turn off optional marketing or digest emails where available.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect essential service messages such as account verification, billing receipts, security alerts, or support replies.

By creating an account, you consent to our collection and use of information as described in this policy. Bank linking requires separate explicit consent in Settings before Plaid Link is shown.

We retain your account and budget data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. See our Data Retention & Deletion policy for details.

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS 1.2+), two-factor authentication for bank linking, Firebase security rules, Firebase App Check, and access controls. See our Security page for an overview. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at support@budgetmend.com to exercise these rights.

Budgetmend is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-app notice.
